Buffalo Popcorn

Buffalo Popcorn Recipe

In honor of yesterday being National Popcorn Day, I made you a special treat! It’s buttery…with a kick!

With it being award show time, this is the perfect popcorn snack to munch on while your watching all those skinny actresses walk the red carpet. Hey, this popcorn has hot sauce in it so it will increase your metabolism and counteract all that butter and blue cheese. Isn’t that how is works? LOL

Buffalo Popcorn Recipe

Makes – 10 – 12 cups popped corn     Prep Time: 2 minutes    Pop Time: 10 minutes

2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1 cup popcorn kernels, unpopped, and divided
1 stick butter, melted
2 tablespoons hot sauce (I used Frank’s)
1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
salt and pepper to taste

-In a large Dutch oven, over medium high heat, add 1 tablespoon oil and 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels. Cover and pop until you no longer hear them popping but being careful not to burn the corn.
-Remove the popped kernels to a large bowl. Repeat with the remaining oil and unpopped kernels.
-Meanwhile in a medium sized microwave safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in the blue cheese until melted and then stir in the hot sauce.
-Pour the butter sauce over the popcorn and mix well.
-Season with salt and pepper and serve.

And, speaking of award shows, how about a nice glass (or two) of wine while you’re watching the show and munching on your Buffalo Popcorn?  And the award for cutest wine glasses goes to…..
