Why this easy apple dessert recipe works:

Apple pie bites travel well, and are inexpensive to make!

With only two apples and one 9" round pie crust, you'll have 12 individual desserts!

Vertical closeup photo of Apple Pie bites on a blue plate with glaze.

What is the best apple to use to make these pie wedges?

The apple I chose to use for these apple pie wedges is the Pink Lady variety. They're my favorite apple. They're sweet, mildly tart and have a crisp texture and a lovely crunch.

Pink Lady apples can be rather expensive if you don't buy them when they're on sale, so if you prefer to shop the sales, Honey Crisp or even Granny Smith will work wonderfully well in this recipe.

Just remember that only two apples will give you 24 apple pie wedges, so all in all, this is a relatively inexpensive dessert.

Can raisins, dried cranberries, or even nuts be added to this recipe, and if so, how?

    YES!

Each of those additions, or ALL of those additions, would be delicious!

Just make sure to chop the extra ingredients pretty finely and sprinkle them onto the pie dough before adding the apple and rolling them up.

Can this easy apple dessert be made in advance?

    Yes!

These can be made 5 days prior to serving (if needed) and stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

These tasty apple desserts are best served at room temperature, so allow them to sit for a least 30 minutes, unrefrigerated, before serving.

Can apple pie wedges be frozen?

    Yes.

Wrap them individually in freezer or wax paper, and store them in zip-top bags in the freezer for up to 2 months.

    Homemade vs. Store-Bought pie dough?

As I stated earlier, each and every one of the above pies can be made with homemade crust should you choose to go that route.

The following recipes I'm recommending for homemade pie crust are from bloggers I admire and trust.

I tried the easy Apple pie wedges and I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture lol! They were sooo good! I should have made more at once but I’m making more today. The only thing I will adjust is the amount of sugar in the glaze. Thank you for this quick and easy recipe!
