Homemade Peach BBQ Sauce

Feel like getting a little saucy?

Good. I have just the recipe that will get you out of your old bottled sauce rut!

I made this sauce to accompany a pork roast I but I’m thinking it would go great with any protein you feel like slathering it on….

Oh the thought of it on a nice thick, grilled tuna steak has me just about swooning as I type…


1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium red onion, finely minced
1 tablespoon orange zest
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 can (15 ounce) diced, light peaches
1 teaspoon minced ginger
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon molasses

-In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, sauté the minced onion in the olive oil until softened slightly (about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally).
-Add in the remaining ingredients and stir well to combine.
-Continue to simmer on medium heat until the sauce has thickened slightly and has reduced in volume (approximately 25 minutes, stirring occasionally).
-Remove from the heat and use immediately or store in the fridge in a covered jar or container for up to one week. *Note – the sauce will thicken even more as it cools.
-Use this sauce liberally on chicken, beef, pork and even fish.
-Works well as a dipper too. YUM!
