*Disclaimer - This recipe was originally published in 2014. I'm working hard to update all my older recipes with recipe cards, new photos, and additional recipe information. But, getting to all of them will take time. Please bear with me. In the meantime let me assure you that this recipe is still a winner and one I'm sure you'll be well pleased with when you make it at home.

Even though I'm not Polish, these amazing fruit-filled treats are some of my very favorite cookies.

There's something about a sweet jam filling folded up within a buttery cookie dough (like a love letter) that melts my heart, and delights my taste buds!

    KOLACHES    {PRINT THIS RECIPE}
Makes: 1 dozen     Prep Time:  20 minutes     Bake Time: 25-30 minutes

    3 ounces cream cheese, softened
    ½ cup butter, softened
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon vanilla
fruit jam (I used seedless raspberry and seedless blackberry)
    powdered sugar for dusting

-In a large bowl with a hand mixer or the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the cream cheese and butter.
    -Add the vanilla.
-Add the flour slowly until incorporated.
-Shape into a disc, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
-Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
-Roll the dough out to ⅛" thickness and cut into approximate 2 ½" squares
-Place about 1 teaspoon of jam into the center of each square. Overlap the opposite corners and press the dough together to seal.
-Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-Bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
-Cool completely and then dust with powdered sugar.

Kolaches!!!! OMG, love... I was in Texas a couple months ago and when we drove from Fort Worth to Austin, of course we stopped at the Czech Stop in West to grab a couple of kolaches to take on the road. Cream cheese and peach, I think. They were soooo delicious.
