    Winter Chopped Salad

Winter Chopped Salad is a lovely combination of sweet and savory ingredients. Pears, cranberries, pecans, blue cheese, and bacon...just to name a few. What's not to love?

A colorful bowl filled with Winter Chopped Salad with cranberries, bacon, lettuce, and pecans.

*Disclaimer - This recipe was originally published in 2011. I'm working hard to update all my older recipes with recipe cards, new photos, and additional recipe information. But, getting to all of them will take time. Please bear with me. In the meantime let me assure you that this recipe is still a winner and one I'm sure you'll be well pleased with when you make it at home.

I mixed up a light vinaigrette to top the salad just prior to serving and the results were even better than I had imagined.

That alone speaks volumes of how delicious this chopped salad is.  Plus, just look at all these fantastic colors...

    WINTER CHOPPED SALAD       {PRINT THIS RECIPE}

    2 bunches romaine, chopped
    2 medium pears, diced small
    2 Plum tomatoes, diced small
1 cup dried cranberries, cherries, and blueberries
1 pound cooked, chopped bacon (drained on paper towels)
    1 -½ cup chopped pecans
    6 ounces crumbled blue cheese
-In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crisp and drain on paper towels until you're ready to assemble the rest of your ingredients.
-In a large bowl add all of the chopped fruits and vegetables along with the dried fruit, bacon, cheese, and nuts.
    -Toss well to combine.
-Right before serving, allow each person to spoon on their own vinaigrette.

    Save this for later.

Looks great Renee! I know I would enjoy this salad, it is so colourful and the vinaigrette sounds delicious. I'm sure everyone at your sister-in-laws enjoyed this. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

P.S. I love that you used an entire pound of bacon in this 🙂

I've made these same tweaks myself! Glad you enjoyed the salad. I add grilled chicken to it sometimes too. It's a keeper! Your pics are nicer than mine, I'll have to make it again so I can take some more colorful ones. 🙂

I love chopped salads! I make them at home all the time. I love how this one uses dried fruit, I don't typically do that.
