In a large bowl blend together the room temperature cream cheese, the two packages of Kool-Aid, vanilla extract, orange zest, and the confectioners sugar until creamy.
Use a spatula to gently fold the 16 ounce container of whipped topping into the Kool-Aid and cream cheese mixture until no white streaks are visible. This will take a few minutes so be patient.
Spoon the filling into the prepared graham cracker pie shell and use a spatula to smooth into an even layer.
Spoon the smaller container of whipped topping over the cream cheese layer swirl or smooth it as you like.
Garnish the top of the pie with additional orange zest (if desired). Cover loosely and freeze for a minimum of 4 hours before serving.
