If you’d like to up the chocolate ante of this bread (nice, but certainly not necessary), feel free to add some semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter before baking. And, as I’m always prone to do (but didn’t do this time), tossing in some chopped toasted nuts is never a bad thing in my book. But, if you’re giving it as a gift, sometimes the simpler the better.
If you’ve never made your own granola, I’m here to encourage you to do so. Once you see how easy and flavorful it is, you’ll never go back to the store-bought variety. Plus when you make your own you can tailor it to your favorite healthy ingredients, adjust the sodium to your desired level, and say good-bye to all those nasty additives and preservatives.
What I like best about these Magic Coconut Brownie Bars with Macadamia Nuts is that they can be made with either your favorite “scratch” brownie recipe or from your favorite box mix. For this particular post, I used the Ghiradelli brownie box mix just to keep it simple and less intimidating. Plus, if you’re in a pinch for time, the box brownie mix is definitely the way to go!
