The blog header design of my lovely twitter friend Mardi has always captured my eye. I know for a fact that many of you reading this now can immediately recall her candy colored header with great fondness. So when Mardi ok’d me to paint her design on one of my blog tiles, I was over the moon, thrilled.
Now while I can take credit for recreating her design, I can not take credit for the design itself. Mardi’s adorable design was created for her by Lisa Orlger and it could not be cuter!
You’ve got to start somewhere, so I started in the middle:
And all those fun little candy shapes and colors:
Adding stripes, circles and dots is really starting to make Mardi’s design pop:
Next comes one of the most important steps (in my estimation). It’s all about the details and the thin black outlining of all the pieces really makes an important difference:
Yes, it’s really cute and could be considered complete at this point, but there are still some additional details that will make Mardi’s header design just like the one on her blog, eatlivetravelwrite If you’ve never been to her tastefully done food and travel blog, check it out and see what I mean.
Lines. Lots and lots of little lines:
See what I mean?
Now comes her blog name and tag line:
Now, please don’t panic if you notice a difference in the tag line and think I started making things up in my head. A change is in the works for Mardi’s site and she wanted her tile to compliment this coming change. If you’re like me, you’ll agree that her new tag line says it all!
YUM! What a fun design! I loved painting this for you Mardi and hope you’ll enjoy this in your own kitchen for many, many years to come! BTW Mardi, I’m now doing blog wine glasses and I think this design would be so fun. Think about it 🙂
One of my favorite things to do is paint blog tiles for people. If I can interest you in one for yourself, please send me an email and I’ll be happy to get back to you with a quote.
