Ingredients
For the salad:

fresh broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces

chopped scallions (green onions)

red grapes, halved
1
head
red leaf lettuce
torn into bite-sized pieces

slivered almonds
toasted lightly in a dry skillet
½
teaspoon
kosher salt (optional)

teaspoon
cracked black pepper (optional)
For the sweet and sour dressing:

red wine vinegar

tablespoons
granulated sugar

tablespoons
soy sauce (reduced sodium is preferred)

extra virgin olive oil

Instructions
To make the salad:
Toast the almonds in a small skillet over medium until lightly golden (approximately 2 minutes). Set aside.
Place all the salad ingredients into a large bowl and toss to combine.
To make the sweet and sour dressing:
Whisk together all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl until combined.
Pour the dressing over the broccoli salad and toss well to combine.
Top the salad with the toasted almonds and serve immediately or chill for 1-2 hours, and serve cold.
Notes
Store the salad in the refrigerator (undressed and covered) overnight if making it ahead.
